This was an animation project that we ran in Saint Raphaels Centre in Youghal (County Cork). There were nearly 20 participants and that is what made it such a success. Please contact us if you would like to see the full animation or would be interested in running a similar project at a centre near you.
A key aspect of animation is that people with poor communication skills can be portrayed in a more understandable fashion through editing of their voice patterns. It is not essential that actors can speak complicated sentences as words and phrases can be stitched together by the animation crew to produce the desired effect.
Another aspect of this project was that each actor had complete control over how they were portrayed in terms of age, clothes, facial expressions etc. – this allowed the actors to take on the persona of the animated avatars.

This project was greatly assisted by funding received by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) through the Sound and Vision funding scheme.
