On this page, we give synopsis and links to National Disability Publications which we feel are easy to assimilate and of relevance to Adults with Intellectual Disabilities.
The report Independent and Community Living – Focus Group Consultation Report, more specifically ChapterTwo: The views and experiences of people with intellectual disabilities is well worthwhile reading. This is a very well-written report and an easy read. It deals with a broad range of aspects of living with a disability like – socialising with friends, work, home, grocery shopping, shopping for clothes. Activities that people like, dislike, have difficulty with, wish they could do … as well as issues around independ living …. the list goes on. There are no tables or lists of figures – this is simply a reflection of what people with intellectual disabilities told the interviewers – either directly or with the help of a Personal Assistant.
