Stencyl is a new generation of computer programming. It has been developed specifically for people interested in 2D (Shoot ’em up / Platform) Type Games. Originally developed at MIT under the SCRATCH project by a masters student, it later came under the wing of Google who spent a year refining and then releasing it under a GNU license. Stencyl is a refinement of that project and is available both as a free-to-use package as well as a ‘paid for’ package. It can be downloaded here.
We are in the process of developing a whole number of series of tutorials around this language which are suited for the novice / beginners ranging in age from teens to ‘the young at heart’. Enjoy!
